Samsung has presented a mini version of their Galaxy S5 smartphone without extraordinary media excitement. Comparing to its predecessor SG S4 Mini the S5 is a bit larger and it introduces several novelties in software as well as in hardware of the smartphone. Let us mention that SG S5 Mini has a 4.5 inch Super AMOLED screen with resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels HD having pixel density of 326 ppi.
The smartphone has Gorilla Glass 3 protection and IP76 certificate like its older brother Samsung Galaxy S5.
The heart of the smartphone is a four core Cortex A7 processor working at 1.7 GHz. Internal memory is set to 16GB, while working RAM stays unchanged at 1.5GB. Of course, there is a microSD slot for enhancing the memory size with additional memory card.
The primary camera has 8 megapixels and the secondary 2.1. Both cameras have the option of recording in Full HD resolution. It is pointed out that SG S5 Mini is equipped with a skilfully concealed fingerprint reader under its Home key, same featured in Samsung Galaxy S5. Besides home key and fingerprint reader it has a heart beat sensor which is located on the side of the smartphone as is with the regular S5 version. Much to our satisfaction SG S5 Mini has an IR Blaster on top of the body and the option of connecting to mobile internet through LTE at the speed of 150 Mbps. It is running Android 4.4.2. KitKat operating system and the interface is TouchWiz Samsung interface.
The software available is the usual Kids Mode, S Studio Editor and software for heart beat measurement.
The battery is Li-Ion with the capacity of 2100 mAh. It is specified that SG S5 Mini is going to be available in four colors, the Black, White, Blue and Gold. The price is not yet known and the smartphone will first be released in Russian market then following a couple of weeks in the other parts of the world.
