headphones

There are of several types:
  • Atria: Classic headphones
  • Headphones "clips" they attach to the ear and provide excellent support.

  • Semi-ITE: a good alternative for people who experience discomfort with ITE.

The headphones

For wired headsets, several models:

  • Lightweight headphones: classic, it passes overhead.
  • Neckband Headphones Recommended for athletes provides enough support.

The wireless headset

Three possibilities:

  • The headset is connected to the carrier via Bluetooth.
  • The headset is being connected by infrared (headphones salon).
  • Headphones connected by RF technology, radio frequency.

There are also in-ear wireless technology including Kleer, which ensures high sound quality.
General and technical aspects

general aspects

material

The material headset operates on two levels: comfort and audio transmission. For in-ear tips, several materials and forms: they may be silicone, foam, rubber, biplanes (two fins) or triangles (with three blades).
Cord length

For outdoor use, a wire around 1 20m is a minimum. For the interior, to connect the headphones to the TV screen, several meters are preferred.
connector

For headsets and wired headset, two things to consider:

  • The size of the jack to make sure it fits your equipment. Adapters exist nonetheless. MP3 headphones and headsets usually have a 3.5mm jack.
  • Matter of decision: a gold-plated jack ensures excellent audio transmission.

technical aspects

Frequency Response

Also called bandwidth, more frequency range covered is wider, your helmet will be capable of reproducing the diversity of sounds.
It is being  expressed in Hz and kHz. For example, a headset with a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz (or 20 000 Hz) is excellent.
sensitivity

Also called sound pressure is being expressed in dB (decibel). The higher it is, the sound is being  restored and, therefore, more headphones are quality (beyond 100 dB for example).
sound insulation

Sometimes indicated, it is being expressed in dB. Proper insulation prevents sound disperses: listening is better. In general, it is about - 26 dB, for good headphones.
Basses

It must look at the matter magnets. A neodymium magnet reproduces more bass and power. Some headsets and headphones have specific components, such as a metal layer, which prevent vibration low.
Helmet opening

Closed warranty usually an excellent bass response. Good for helmets lounge.
Opened.
Semi-open: a suitable alternative.

impedance

The impedance is being expressed in ohms, resistor unit, and reflects the acoustic resistance of the device.
Helmets are living up to hundreds of ohms. For a player, although less powerful, it is not worth to exceed 100 ohms (less than 50 is even sufficient). Must sound source is a great power if we want to have a good listening on headphones with high impedance.
