This non-exhaustive list contains many shortcuts present in Windows. You should know that there are specific shortcuts for each software: This list presents the most used (feel free to suggest us who makes you more life!)

Windows Keyboard Shortcuts

Note: Some shortcuts are also written to the right of choice in the context menus of applications.


Shortcuts specific to Windows 


With the Windows key: 


  • Windows / Ctrl-Esc : Opens, the Start menu 
  • Windows key + E: Opens, the File Browser 
  • Windows key + R: Run command launches 
  • Windows key + F opens the Find command 
  • Windows key + CTRL + F: Search for computers 
  • Windows key + F1: Opens the Windows help whatever the application 
  • Windows key + L locks the session 
  • Windows key + U: Opens the Utility Manager (Windows XP and 2000) 
  • Windows key + X: for a laptop computer Vista or Seven: opens the mobility center. 
  • Windows key + Pause: Opens, the Control Information System 
  • Windows key + M / Windows key + D: minimizes all windows and displays the desktop 
  • Windows key + Shift + M: Restore minimized windows 
  • Windows key + TAB switches between windows - Flip3D (On Vista or Seven only): Next Window 
  • Windows key + Shift + TAB switches between windows - Flip3D (For Vista only): previous window 
  • Windows key + CTRL + TAB switcher windows freezes Flip3D (use the arrows to select a window
  •  Moreover, confirm with the Enter key)
  • Windows key + P: switch the display to external displays (Windows 7)

With the Alt key: 


  • Alt + F4: Closes the window or running program 
  • Alt + underlined letter in a menu name: opens the corresponding menu (e.g., Alt + F opens the File menu) 
  • Alt + Spacebar: Displays the context menu of the current window 
  • ALT + Spacebar + U: Reduces the current window 
  • ALT + Spacebar + N: enlarges the current window 
  • ALT + Spacebar + R: restores the current window 
  • ALT + F + Spacebar: Closes the current window 
  • Alt-Print Screen: screenshot of the current window 
  • Alt-Enter: Opens, the property window of the selected folder / file 
  • Alt + Shift (or Alt Gr + SHIFT): switch modes Keyboard AZERTY / QWERTY 
  • ALT + TAB switches between windows - Classical: Next Window 
  • ALT + SHIFT + TAB switches between windows - Classic: Previous Window 
  • ALT + CTRL + TAB switcher freezes the classic windows (use the arrows to select a window and confirm with the Enter key) 
  • ALT + ESC: browse the windows in their opening order 

With the CTRL key: 


  • CTRL + ALT + DEL / CTRL + SHIFT + ESC: Opens the Task Manager 
  • CTRL while dragging an item will copy the selected item 
  • CTRL + Shift while dragging the object to create a shortcut to the selected item. 
  • CTRL + F4: close the active document when using a program that can open several documents simultaneously 

Function keys: 


  • F1: Help 
  • F2: Rename, a File 
  • F3: search for files 
  • F5: Refresh the display 
  • F10: Activate, the menu bar in the active program 
  • Backspace key (above the Enter key) to return to the previous level in Windows Explorer 
  • Shift while dragging an object: Move the selected item 
  • Print Screen: copy the entire screen 
  • Shift key (or Shift) + Delete: Delete, the file directly without going through the trash 
  • Shift + F10: replace the right click 
  • To prevent automatic CD playback, press at the time of insertion Shift 
  • ESC: Cancels, the current action 


For file management, but also for all software 

  • Ctrl + A: Select all 
  • Ctrl + B: Organize Favorites on Internet 
  • Ctrl + C: Copy

Software for word processing 


  • Ctrl + G or Ctrl + B in English: sets the selected text bold 
  • Ctrl + U: underlines the selected text 
  • Ctrl + I: sets the selected text italic 
  • Put a capital with emphasis  ΠԠ
                  -    Tiny., Tap focus
                  -  Capitalized., Type the letter
  • Tab (​​left) moves the entire selection of a tab to the right 
  • Shift + Tab (​​left) moves the current selection with a tab on the left 
  • CTRL + Home: Returns to the beginning of open document 
  • CTRL + End: Go to end of document open 
  • CTRL + RIGHT: return the insertion point to the beginning of the next word 
  • CTRL + LEFT: return the insertion point to the beginning of the previous word 
  • CTRL + DOWN: reduce the insertion point to the beginning of the next paragraph 
  • CTRL + UP: return the insertion point to the beginning of the previous paragraph 
  • CTRL + SHIFT with arrow keys: highlight a block of text 
  • SHIFT with any of the arrow keys: Select multiple items in a window or desktop, or select text in a document 


for Word 



  • Ctrl + Shift + N: regular sets the selected text 
  • Ctrl + Shift + 1 / Ctrl + Alt + 1 English version uses Heading 1 paragraph where the mouse cursor is 
  • Ctrl + Shift + 2 / Ctrl + Alt + 2 in English: Title puts in paragraph 2 where the mouse cursor is 
  • Ctrl + Shift + 3 / Ctrl + Alt +3 in English: Title puts in paragraph 3 where the mouse cursor is 
  • Select a word or phrase, and then Shift + F3: changing the case 


Excel 


  • F2: Edit a cell. Allows you to use the keyboard directly to modify the contents 
  • Ctrl + $: copy the cell above the selection and is directly in edit mode 


Internet Explorer 



  • Backspace key (above the Enter key) to return to the previous page 
  • Ctrl + B: Organize Favorites on Internet 
  • Ctrl + D: Add current page to Favorites 
  • Ctrl + E: Open the search function 
  • Ctrl + F: Search the current page 
  • Ctrl + H: Open your history of visited websites 
  • Ctrl + N: Open a new page identical to the previous 
  • Ctrl + T: open a new tab (Available also in Firefox) 
  • Ctrl + Q: mosaic display of the tabs of the active window 
  • Ctrl + Tab, Alt + D or F6: Select the address bar 
  • CTRL + ENTER: add www. and. com around the text entered 
  • Shift + click on the link to open a link in a new window 
  • F11: toggle between full screen mode and normal mode of the current window. 
  • Alt + Home (Arrow pointing upwards on the left): Opens the Start page 



Windows Media Player 



  • ALT + 1 (2 or 3): zoom of 50% (100% successively or 200%) 
  • ALT + ENTER: switch to full screen display 
  • ESC: exit full screen mode 
  • ALT + Left Arrow: to reverse in the browsing history 
  • ALT + Right Arrow: move forward in browsing history 
  • CTRL + 1: switch to full screen mode 
  • CTRL + 2: Switch to skin mode 
  • CTRL + B: Previous (item or chapter) 
  • CTRL + F: Next (item or chapter) 
  • CTRL + H: activate / deactivate the random playback 
  • CTRL + T: enable / disable repeat 
  • CTRL + M: show / hide the Classic Menus (menu bar) 
  • CTRL + N to create a new selection 
  • CTRL + O: Open a file 
  • CTRL + P: Play / Pause 
  • CTRL + S: stop reading CTRL + S 
  • CTRL + U: Specify a URL or path to a file 
  • CTRL + SHIFT + C: Enable / disable captions and subtitles 
  • F2: Rename, the selected item 
  • F3: add media files to the library 
  • F5: Refresh information 
  • F6: Increase the size of the cover 
  • Shift + F6: reduce the size of the cover 
  • F7: Disable volume 
  • F8: decrease the volume 
  • F9: Increase Volume 


Additional shortcuts for full-screen mode: 


  • Right arrow advance element read 
  • Left arrow: return of the read element 
  • Ctrl + Right arrow: Fast forward element read 
  • CTRL + Left arrow: Rewind element read 
  • CTRL + Shift + Right Arrow: slow forward the playback element 
  • CTRL + Shift + Left Arrow: Slow return of the item read
